Become a climate ambassador at SDU

– and put climate on the agenda where you work.

Do you want to help promote the green transition at SDU? As a climate ambassador, you become a local driving force for green behaviour in your section - with support from both colleagues and SDU's climate efforts.

What does a climate ambassador do?

Climate ambassadors at SDU play an important role in the work with SDU's climate plan and ambition to become a low-carbon university by 2030.

As a climate ambassador, you are the one who puts sustainability on the agenda in your section. This could be organising a green meeting, improving waste sorting, reducing energy consumption or engaging colleagues in a climate campaign. You also participate in the implementation of joint initiatives across SDU.

You inspire colleagues to adopt climate-friendly behaviour at work and develop new initiatives to complement the efforts in SDU's climate plan .

You don't need to be a climate expert – the most important thing is the desire to contribute to the green transition.

What's in it for you?

In addition to contributing to the green transition at SDU, you will gain knowledge and practical tools that you can also use in other work-related – and private – contexts. You'll have the opportunity to develop your skills in behaviour change and communication, and you'll become part of engaged networks of colleagues across SDU.

You will also have the opportunity to participate in Odense Climate Partnership 's climate ambassador network four times a year. Odense Climate Partnership is a collaboration between Odense Municipality and a number of companies and organisations, including SDU, which is a founding member

The climate ambassador programme

If you apply and are appointed, you must complete the climate ambassador training programme at Odense Climate Partnership. The education takes place over two days. Here you will learn how to work with green behaviour and change in practice.

The dates in autumn 2025:

  • 25 and 26 August
  • 29 and 30 October.

After the education, you will be part of the climate ambassador network at SDU and will be invited to network meetings with climate ambassador colleagues across the organisation approximately every six weeks. The meetings are held either in-person in Odense or online.
